Designed in 1715 by Meissen's first model master Johann Jacob Irminger, this vase is one of the very first white vessels. The sculptural decoration follows the design model of European silverware and provides a beautiful stage for the filigree painting. The artwork runs through the relief in muted shades of blue. A historical engraving depicting monkeys harvesting grapes served as the motivic inspiration here. Placed under the embossed grapes and vine leaves, the hand-painted staffing enters into dialogue with the sculptural elements.
