description
Extravagant and exclusive. The "Tailor on a billy goat" figure is an impressive work of art. It was first created by Johann Joachim Kaendler in 1737, and the elaboration of the sculpture details places the highest demands on the skills of the sculptor. The pins and eyelets for the pincushion are modeled and placed freehand. The shaggy fur also requires a skilled modeling hand in order to appear as lively and natural as possible. The billy goat's glasses are only put on at the very end - because they have no temples, they are difficult to attach. Every detail of the sculpture is hand-painted. This dreamlike work of art is part of the MEISSEN® Exclusive Collection and is based on a legend according to which the court tailor longed to sit at the table of the people in Dresden Castle. This wish prompted some courtiers to commission this hand-painted figurine from Kaendler as a joke. The figure is exclusive and hand-painted. An inspiring sculpture - a work of art.
