Monkey Musician Female Harpist

The "Monkey Musician with Harp" is part of Peter Strang's 2016 "Monkey Musicians," a series of hand-painted collectible figurines depicting an entire orchestra that is a reinterpreted edition of Kaendler's "Monkey Band," the master of the craft. Less lush and less colorful, the focus of Strang's figures is on the expression of his monkeys. Handcrafted without model molds and subsequently hand-painted with only the primary colors, the making of each figure is an extremely challenging craft. With the orchestra of music-making monkeys, the collector gets an endearing ensemble of historically significant collectible figures, inspired by Kaendler's humorous depiction of courtly society 270 years ago.
