description
Under the motto "Make the world a better place", Meissen designer Lena Hensel captured fascinating motifs of our planet's green lungs on her canvas. In her search, she came across the emperor marmoset, named after Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, who was famous for his very distinctive moustache. Using intense colors, she created the tropical habitat of this bearded little primate in a naturalistic painting style and with various, very elaborate painting techniques. Amidst the countless shades of green of the misty rainforest, the little monkey sits on a branch, framed by lush palm trees and all kinds of other brightly colored plants of the Brazilian flora.

The nimble and agile emperor marmosets communicate with each other through various sounds, exchanging important information about danger, food or other important aspects of social life. However, habitat destruction, illegal hunting and wildlife trade threaten the monkeys' survival. With the three-part mural series "Amazonas", Porzellanmanufaktur Meissen wants to set an artistic example for the preservation of this unique animal and its home.
