Ariadne fell in love with Theseus, who wanted to kill her bloodthirsty half-brother, Minotaur. Minotaur was in the labyrinth. Afraid of losing her lover, Ariadne gave Theseus a thread that led him back. Later, Theseus grew tired of Ariadne and banished her to an island. There the completely desperate woman was discovered by the wine god Dionysus, who fell madly in love with her. After a fulfilled life, Ariadne died. Dionysus was heartbroken. He decided to bring her out of the realm of the dead into the world of the gods. From then on, Ariadne was considered the goddess of labyrinths and passion.
