This limited edition work of art, the 76 cm high large heron figure from the Meissen Exclusive Collection, was created by Meissen's master modeler Johann Joachim Kaendler. These life-size sculptures were intended to fulfill Augustus the Strong's dream of a porcelain palace. The two models of a heron were among the earliest models. With this study of nature, the sculptor captures a characteristic moment in the bird's behavior. Johann Joachim Kaendler broke new ground with these large figurines. To this day, MEISSEN is the only manufactory to create such large sculptures in limited edition porcelain. In their realism and accuracy of form in these dimensions, they are a first-class work of art.
