The figure of "Münchhausen" shines with sophistication and idiosyncratic humor. In order to give his work of art optimum authenticity, sculptor Alexander Struck studied the historical material in detail - and created the hand-painted, decorated figure of Münchhausen on the globe in 1938. Not only was the idea based on the literary model created to the highest standards, but also the realization of the sculpture. The 28-centimetre-high work of art was painted in great detail and each fold was finely worked out. Light gold accents lend the figure its royal opulence. Munchausen's fiery orange, hand-painted, decorated clothing billows behind him as he looks forward to his next adventure with rosy cheeks and eyes shining with excitement.
