The sculpture group "Asia and Africa" - an impressive work of art - was created around 1755 by Friedrich Elias Meyer. On sweeping rocailles, the figure of Asia meets the figure of Africa. Lively, the putti, lovingly hand-painted, extend the attributes of their continent: Asia sits backwards on a lion with the crescent moon in her hand and Africa has adorned herself with elephant teeth. Emphasized by the skillfully colored staffage, which is hand-painted in rich contrast, the gestures and facial expressions of the sculpture figures, each in charming tension with the opposite, appear vivid and natural. The stunning handicraft is limited to 50 pieces.
