Dragon and phoenix - the eternal opposites in Chinese mythology that are mutually dependent - immortalized here on this beautiful hand-painted tray.
Already in its early years, the MEISSEN® manufactory adopted the dragon motifs of the Chinese models, but their combination with rich European floral painting as on this limited edition tray is a novelty. As in the 18th century, it was hand-molded instead of cast, the interior of the plate is adorned with a sparingly gilded relief, and the handles in the shape of dragon heads were artfully garnished. The sculptural elements continue in the rich hand-painted decoration. A masterful, expressive depiction of these Far Eastern mythical creatures that have lost none of their fascination even after more than three centuries.
This work of art is produced by the MEISSEN® masters limited to 15 copies.
