description
The vase "Watteaumalerei" combines the tradition of craftsmanship, history as well as excellence Meissen in the limited edition of the masterpieces. Probably designed around 1735-40 by Johann Joachim Kaendler, the magnificent vase was reworked around 1862 by Ernst August Leuteritz in the style of his time, ornately decorated with so-called "volute handles", a snail-shaped decorative element of antique columns and pediments, as well as characteristic female heads. The hand-painted staffing also reveals Meissen's unrivaled craftsmanship: framed by a cobalt blue background with gold ornaments, a hand-painted scene was created based on copperplate engravings by the French rococo painter Jean-Antoine Watteau. On the front of the limited edition vase a guitar player serenading his beloved, on the back a gallant gentleman with a birdcage and two ladies admiring the bird. The fine porcelain provides a beautiful stage for this masterfully hand-painted decoration. Feel free to send us an inquiry if you are interested in this limited edition vase in the most magnificent Meissen craftsmanship.
