description
Mizaru, kikazaru, iwazaru - see nothing, hear nothing, say nothing. The Japanese guiding principle on the essence of morality - the appropriate way to deal with bad things. A play on words - the Japanese negation (zaru) sounds similar to the Japanese word for monkey (saru) - gave rise to the connection to the well-known depictions. MEISSEN® artist Maria Walther reinterprets this guiding principle in the 41 cm high figure. In doing so, she makes the monkeys shine in an elaborately painted camouflage design. The sculpture depicts three different species of monkeys in an impressive work of art with detailed precision. The expressive figure is a must-have for any fan of Far Eastern artwork. The sculpture uniquely combines Japanese tradition with the tradition of the MEISSEN® manufactory in a fascinating design.
