description
The "Monkey Musician Rhesus Monkey as Drummer", an incarnation of centuries-old porcelain craftsmanship, is a highlight of a limited, nine-part series of hand-painted figurines. Created by Otto Pilz in 1908, his monkeys are an admirable reinterpretation of the "Monkey Chapel" from 1753 by the famous master of arts and crafts Johann Joachim Kaendler. Unlike Kaendler's monkeys, Pilz's hand-painted sculptures bear unmistakable, personal traits. The "Monkey musician rhesus monkey as drummer" stands out with its amusing appearance. Full of verve, the monkey bends over the drum and boldly beats the instrument while his pants are held up by suspenders. New edition - design year 2013, limited to 25 pieces.
