description
In 1815, Johann Daniel Schöne created a limited edition of the "Swan Can". The figure, originally modeled as an ink jar, bears witness to exceptional craftsmanship. With the swan on which a small putto rides, the artist cites a central motif of the manufactory's baroque porcelain craft 's. It was varied in a special way on the famous "Swan Service" by Johann Joachim Kaendler and Johann Friedrich Eberlein: the swan as the main motif adorns almost every one of the originally more than 2000 pieces commissioned by Count Heinrich von Brühl. Thus, the figure is also the focus of this box, limited. In mythology, the majestic white swan stands as a symbol of perfect beauty, purity and innocence. With the lid knob of the figure, an artistically modeled and painted putto, Schöne makes reference to the baroque MEISSEN® - the heyday of Europe's first porcelain manufactory. His dreamlike handicraft is limited to 50 pieces.
