The "Word of Meissen Patterns" decor is a modern interpretation of historical decors originally designed for an imposing crater vase. Now they serve as inspiration for the eye-catching T-shirt design of the single fingurine "Cupid with Shirt World of Meissen Patterns". For the contemporary new edition, the original figurine was provided with a characteristic T-shirt. The single figurine "Cupid with Shirt World of Meissen Patterns" is based on a sculpture from 1880 designed by the sculptor Johann Pollak. Cupid images and motifs have been an essential part of Meissen's creative repertoire since the mid-18th century. Iconic motifs from more than three centuries of manufactory history are arranged in segments against each other like the petals of a camellia. From underglaze painting to Watteau scenes and dragon motifs, the patchwork decor underlines the creative diversity for which MEISSEN still stands today.
