description
This vase by Ernst August Leuteritz (1818-1893) reflects the complexity of 19th century porcelain art. Under his leadership, numerous vase models and service forms were created, which today belong to the MEISSEN classics.
Inspired by ancient Greek krater vases, which were used for mixing wine, this MEISSEN vase shows two white peacocks, whose heads form the handles and whose tail feathers end in relief. The peacock symbolizes beauty, wealth, love and passion and is associated with myths and legends in many cultures. In the Christian church, it stands for vanity, while in Asia it is revered as the companion of gods and kings.
The enchanting animal sculptures that have characterized the manufactory since its beginnings under Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706-1775) merge perfectly with the shape of the vessel. The artistically designed relief makes the Meissen porcelain krater vase a magnificent eye-catcher.
