The giraffes of the figurine set were first sculpted by Heinrich Drake in 1955. Due to their tall, slender stature, the sculptures can only be made with unsurpassed craftsmanship.
To ensure that the figurines do not topple over, it requires supports during firing as well as a great deal of experience and skill. The iconic brilliant white of the "Figurine Set Giraffes" can only be realized because of the particularly pure kaolin that is gained in a manufactory-owned mine close to Meißen.
