description
The artists at the MEISSEN porcelain manufactory like to use Böttger stoneware in their work, the reddish-brown material that Johann Friedrich Böttger invented in 1707 before white porcelain and which the director of the manufactory, Max Adolf Pfeiffer, had produced again in 1919 according to the original recipes.

Paul Walther (1876-1933) created almost 200 models between 1904 and 1933, which are characterized above all by the further development of Art Nouveau towards the modern, decorative concept of the 1920s.

As a self-taught artist, Paul Walther was particularly observant. He did not take his inspiration from other people's models, but directly from nature. By relying entirely on his own powers of observation, he gained the freedom to create his own very dynamic forms.

The eagle has always been regarded as a powerful symbol and spiritual power animal. It represents freedom, strength and foresight, qualities that are perfectly captured in this sculpture.

This eagle head sculpture made of reddish-brown Böttger stoneware wants to be touched, its surface breathes and radiates an earthy warmth.
