Limited Edition Pot Golden Bamboo

The "Bamboo Jug" is an original form of early 18th century tableware and an outstanding example of Baroque Chinese fashion of that time. As a central motif, the bamboo flows into numerous sculptural and painted details. For the new edition as part of the "Limited Edition 2019", a historically inspired, newly composed decoration was designed based on historical drawings by Johann Gregorius Höroldt which is hand-painted on this pot. The drawings come from Höroldt's most extensive collection of sketches, the Schulz Codex. It is considered one of the main works of the European-wide chinoiserie style. Applied as sepia paintings, the Chinese motifs enter into artistic dialogue with the jug form as well as the rich gold accents and etchings used to bring out sculptural details on this limited edition dinnerware.
