Limited Masterworks 2021 Vase, Gardens of Paradise

Love, suffering, drama: Ancient Greece has always fascinated artists. For the "Gardens of Paradise" vase, porcelain painter Elke Janke decorated a motif from the Hesperides legend. According to the story, these nymphs of Greek mythology guard an orange grove and its "golden apples" in a paradise garden - a fruit of special power, as it is said to give the gods eternal youth. Stylized in gold, the symbolic tree adorns the back of the vase here. A shield on the front shows the beautiful Hesperides in a shell chariot off the coast of Italy. Framing the hand-painted artwork is a deep blue hand-dusted fund and a rich gold edge.
