This allegorical representation of spring was created by Meissen's exceptional modeller Johann Joachim Kaendler during the manufactory's first golden era. The figurine depicts a cherub with a basket of flowers rendered in colourful adornment with gold detailing, following in the Baroque tradition. The modelling of the basket, with its intricately cut out meshwork and miniature sculpted flowers is a masterwork in precision, with which Kaendler purposefully showcased the finesse of Meissen porcelain. The highly detailed portrayal, lively, dynamic pose and the figurine's symbolism are typical of Kaendler's work.
