description
The figure of a Nereid from Poseidon's retinue emerges from the waters, accompanied by the Triton children, half fish, half human like her. This enchanting sculpture was created in 1738 by Johann Friedrich Eberlein exclusively as part of the swan service, based on Kaendler's work. Beautifully hand-painted, the accentuated design of this work of art is particularly fascinating: the dark scales contrast with the pure, white skin of the Nereid - the fiery orange fins clearly lift her figure out of the water. As with all parts of the swan service, the maritime theme is also represented in a sensual way in this sculpture. A discreet gold frame adorns the shell-shaped bowl of the confectionery dish and gives the hand-painted work of art a magnificent touch. As part of the exclusive collection, this figurine is a testimony to unrivaled Meissen craftsmanship. The sculpture "Nereide", a work of art from a mythical world - masterfully modeled, embossed and exclusively hand-painted.
