description
In the middle of the 17th century, wanderlust and adventurousness brought Zacharias Wagner from Dresden to Asia - and on the trail of white gold. He was looking for alternative sources of supply for Chinese porcelain for the Dutch East India Company, whose exports stagnated due to wars in southern China. In Japan he discovered artistic ceramic works in 1659 and shipped them to Europe. Some pieces from the holdings of Augustus the Strong have been preserved in the porcelain collection in Dresden to this day, which also inspire the Meissen artists time and again.
