Peter Strang's "Monkey Musicians", a series of collectible figures from 2016, are new interpretations of the historic Meissen "Monkey Chapel" by Johann Joachim Kaendler. In doing so, Strang, former MEISSEN chief sculptor, dispensed with model molds in the construction of his figures and also built the 11 cm high "Monkey Musician with Guitar" completely free. The figure is concentrated on the essentials: hand-painted with blue, red and yellow, the basic colors provide a coherent overall image of the monkey orchestra. With meticulous craftsmanship as well as high personal commitment, Peter Strang devoted himself to the design of his monkeys. The result of his work are lovable, hand-painted collectible figures, a tribute to Meissen arts and crafts.
