description
To mark the 350th anniversary of his birth, the Meissen manufactory is honoring its founder Augustus the Strong with a hand-painted, limited edition figurine of the same name by Johann Christoph Ludwig Lücke dating from 1728. The sculpture's decoration is based on an oil painting by the French painter Louis de Silvestre, who was the favorite artist of the Elector himself for over 30 years. Today, de Silvestre's painting has its place in the Old Masters Picture Gallery in Dresden's art collection. The porcelain painter Barbara Storch carried out detailed studies in this very place, in order to then implement them on the hand-painted staffage of the limited edition figure. In this depiction August the Strong looks forward to the future with a triumphant smile. A sculpture of his person, which would certainly have pleased the art-loving Baroque prince. If you are interested, the strictly limited available figure will be modeled and hand-painted exclusively for you. Therefore, please feel free to send us a request for this sculpture.
