Hand-painted and strictly limited, this work of art is a very special treasure in the Meissen collection. This barometer by Karl Theodor Eichler, a student of Ernst August Leuteritz, is modeled after the magnificent clock cases of the Rococo period. The summer putto is above in the sunlight, while the winter putto seeks shelter in the artwork below the case. On one side, the barometer is washed by waves and surrounded by leaves. Water flows down, freezing into icicles below the barometer. The asymmetrical design and elegantly flowing forms, all hand-painted, show clear influences of Art Nouveau. The playfully cheerful barometer is limited to 15 pieces.
