The single figurine "Parrot with Cherries" was made after a model by Johann Joachim Kaendler from 1741. The figurine is formed, assembled and painted by hand, thus attesting to the high quality and masterly craftsmanship of the Meissen manufactory. The naturalistic decoration gleams on the otherwise white porcelain. The single figurine "Parrot with Cherries" is an impressive gift for Christmas. Kaendler is one of the most significant modellers of the Meissen porcelain manufactory. For his animal sculptures, he studied not only copperplate engravings, but also living specimens from the game enclosure in Moritzburg, among other places. Animal figurines are still popular today and are part of the masterpieces of handicraft in Meissen.
