description
The "Trumpeter" is part of the "Monkey Band", a series of 21 collectible figures by the first Meissen model master Johann Joachim Kaendler. Kaendler, one of the greatest masters of his craft, created this bizarre orchestra in 1753: monkeys playing music in human clothing. Several drawings prove it: Images of monkeys were very much in vogue at that time. With his delicate and hand-painted figures, he holds up a mirror to courtly society - ironically and humorously. Put together in impressively artistic handwork and hand-painted en detail, each figure of his "Monkey Chapel" testifies to Kaendler's brilliant skills of his craft. On the occasion of the 310th anniversary of the manufactory, modeler Silke Ebermann created a new edition of these beautiful collectible figures.
