Limited Edition 2019 Gourd Vase in Boettger Stoneware

For the "Limited Edition 2019", in honor of the 300th anniversary of the death of Johann Friedrich Böttger, the inventor of the first European porcelain, a vessel form by the artist Willi Münch-Khe from 1954 was reissued in "Böttger stoneware". This material, steeped in history, was the first and for many years the only material used by the Meissen manufactory. In keeping with this early creative period of the manufactory, the pumpkin-shaped vase has been decorated with rich gold accents that emphasize sculptural details such as insects and sweeping engravings. The gold painting presents a special challenge on this limited edition work of art: neither light and dark gradations nor subsequent engraving is possible, as otherwise the fine-pored surface would be damaged.
