  • Join MEISSEN on a fantastic journey through the flora and fauna of the Amazon tropical rainforest. With the new “The MEISSEN Amazon Collection” under the motto “Make the world a better place”, MEISSEN brings to life the extraordinary beauty of this landscape, in and on “white gold”, and thus demonstrates the entire artistic skill of the manufactory.

A fantastic setting for our “Exclusive Collection”
The highlights of “The MEISSEN Amazon Collection” are undoubtedly the art products in our “Exclusive Collection”. These include the three impressive murals, which can be combined to form a triptych, and the exclusive “Amazon” vase. MEISSEN designer Lena Hensel combined fascinating motifs from the Brazilian Amazon to create a true masterpiece. Thus we see the endangered animal and plant species of the Amazon in an exotic natural spectacle - realized by the Meissen painters in intense colors, naturalistic painting style and with various, very elaborate painting techniques.

One of these animals is the hyacinth macaw, which is considered one of the most iconic symbols of Brazilian biodiversity. These intelligent and extremely sociable animals have an impressive ability: they can learn to imitate sounds such as the human voice or the sounds of other animals. As hyacinth macaws are known to form monogamous pairs that stay together for life, they appear on the scene in pairs.

Against a spectacular evening sky in various shades of purple and violet, framed by lush palm trees and other exotic rainforest plants, two large yolk toucans also dominate the scenery. Their most striking feature, the large, long beak, is not only beautiful, but also an indispensable tool for foraging and regulating body temperature.

These are joined by the emperor tamarin, named after Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, who was famous for his very distinctive moustache. Amidst densely grown palm trees and all kinds of other colorful plants of the Brazilian flora. You will also discover the malachite butterfly, the ruby-throated hummingbird, the red-tailed hummingbird, the blue morpho butterfly and the tortoiseshell butterfly from the fauna, as well as orchids, bromeliads and lobster claw as representatives of the flora. So there is always something new to discover in the pictures.
When tropical rainforest meets unique handicrafts, the result is colorful passion in the highest porcelain quality.

  • MEISSEN Mugs „Amazon“
The popular “The MEISSEN Mug Collection” has been expanded to include five unique mugs with the motifs of the murals and the “Amazonas” vase. One of the motifs, the black panther, was painted exclusively for this mug collection. This inhabitant of the rainforest is actually a jaguar with black fur throughout - although the term also applies to leopards with this characteristic. The predator blends majestically into the scenery.

    Exotic animal figures
At the beginning of the 20th century, animal sculpture experienced a renaissance at the MEISSEN porcelain manufactory. Renowned animal sculptors such as Georg Pilz, Otto Jarl and August Gaul, followed by the manufactory's own geniuses such as Paul Walther, created masterpieces of naturalistic animal sculpture for the manufactory. Not only the beauty, strength and agility of the creatures are perfectly rendered, but also the inscrutability of the animal soul as it manifests itself in each of these creatures. Exclusively for “The MEISSEN Amazon Collection”, selected animal sculptures from this era have now been given a new staffage, making the imposing works appear even more alive than ever before.

„Make the world a better place“
On this fantastic journey through the Amazon tropical rainforest, we want to do one thing above all else - draw attention to the threat to the green lungs of our planet and the many endangered animal species and at the same time make a contribution to protecting the region. To make this possible, MEISSEN is cooperating with EKOSFERA as part of “The MEISSEN Amazon Collection”, which is committed to preserving this valuable ecosystem through various projects. You can find all the information about this cooperation in our news story “Make the world a better place”.
