MEISSEN x JUNIPER JACK –
The successful cooperation continues! #ginlovers
  • What do Frank Sinatra, Ernest Hemingway, Winston Churchill and Humphrey Bogart have in common? They were all known to be extremely fond of the gin and tonic, which has been one of the classics among cocktails since its invention. Queen Mum's passion for the British cult drink was also legendary. The monarch is said to have enjoyed her daily glass right up to her death. Of course, only London Dry Gin, which is one of the finest variants of the juniper distillate. However, you do not even have to travel to London: the "juniper bomb" is also distilled here in Saxony. "Juniper Jack" is the name of the successful Saxon brand founded by Jörg Fiedler, former sales manager of Schloss Proschwitz, and master distiller Siegbert Hennig in 2014. Juniper Jack Gin has already won several awards and prizes. Sommeliers and bartenders also overwhelm with praise. They talk of a "touch of magic from the Orient interwoven with the fresh scent of juniper from the Occident" (Rakhshan Zhouleh, sommelier), or even of "pure poetry" (Gourmetwelten. Das Genussportal).

“Gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen‘s lives, and minds, than all the doctors in the Empire.“
Winston Churchill

  • Jörg Fiedler travelled all the way to Croatia to find those aromatic juniper berries that make the Juniper Jack such a unique gin. "Most of the new gins saw themselves as "New Western Gin". In other words, gin was supposed to taste not like juniper! No, that was not and is not our thing! We want a gin that can be identified as gin even when blind and with fever of 40 degrees. And so the first phase of recipe development was characterized by the search for "our" juniper" says Fiedler on the website of his company. The name "Juniper Jack" comes - logically - from the juniper itself. However, there is much more behind the name: the story of an English journeyman distiller who lost his job in 1736. At this time, King George II tried to combat excessive moonshine distilling with a series of laws known as the "Gin Acts". Under the pseudonym, "Jack Juniper" the journeyman then wrote the theatre play "The Death of Queen Gin" which had its premiere at the New Theatre in the Haymarket on August 2, 1736 - and was banned shortly thereafter. Inspired by this story, the name for the new gin brand was found.

With the new exclusive gift set from MEISSEN X JUNIPER JACK, the cooperation between the two Saxon brands is going into the next phase. This year, the companies present themselves with a joint Juniper Jack Meissen Gin & Cherry - a London Dry Gin with a noble cherry note. The crossed swords, the distinctive trademark of the Meissen porcelain manufactory, not only adorn the label of the bottle, but also the modern gin cups made of finest Meissen porcelain. They are part of the "Swords" collection, with which the legendary signet is presented as an outstanding decoration in the shimmering color of gold.
