Maritime Decors - A World of Longing and Fascination
  • Colourful coral cut-outs, detailed lionfish and jellyfish sculptures, enchanted underwater worlds in luminous blue painting: Meissen artists have always been inspired by the oceanic depths and fascinating underwater worlds. Whether as original re-creations, reissues or interpretations of historical motifs, hardly any other genre offers such a variety of fabulous decorations, shapes and paintings waiting to be discovered by lovers of sublime craftsmanship. Immerse yourself in this enchanting world and enjoy the flair of maritime lightness in your own home.

Full of romance and longing, the "MEISSEN Blue Treasures" collection lets a motif by Otto Eduard Voigt from the late 19th century shine in new splendour. As if guided by gentle waves and a sea breeze, the flowing brushstrokes capture a fascinating underwater world on plates, vases and vessels in luminous blue painting. The monochrome painting technique is one of the oldest in the manufactory and requires years of experience and the highest precision from specialised blue painters.

The moving motifs - lobsters, seahorses, shells and a wide variety of fish - are applied to the still unglazed porcelain in precise brushstrokes, shaded and brought to life by multiple applications. Corrections are not possible, as the colour is immediately absorbed into the body. In the second firing, the painting finally shines in the characteristic cobalt blue under a protective glaze. A creative effort that pays off not only aesthetically but also practically: thanks to the underglaze painting, all the pieces in the collection are dishwasher-safe, microwaveable and can be stacked without hesitation - perfect for creating a maritime summer ambience in everyday use and in your own interior. Whether as a coherent table or in a deeply personal mix & match style.

“As if guided by gentle waves and a sea breeze, the flowing brushstrokes of the maritime decors capture a fascinating underwater world on plates, vases and vessels in luminous blue painting and allow a maritime summer ambience to take hold in one's own interior.”
  • The highlight of this art are the exclusive vases and wall bowls of the Limited Masterpieces. With them, the view of Meissen blue painters expands from detail sections to an entire scenic underwater world in which a shoal of floating fish, a group of seahorses float through their universe with gentle movements, dance among sea grasses and algae and conjure up the carefree lightness of a maritime attitude to life in every home.

Exotic coral inhabitants, on the other hand, are the focus of Andrea Mauersberger's maritime wall plate series. For the first time, the Meissen artist combines a traditional technique, onglaze painting, with a modern style of painting on the clear, minimalist shapes of the "MEISSEN® Cosmopolitan" service and captures the colourful sea creatures in all their unique beauty. Highlights in the eyes, incoming light reflecting on the scales, colours and shades that change with movement - in these unique Limited Edition paintings, the fascinating fauna of turquoise depths is expressed in sublime craftsmanship for eternity and offers unique decorating ideas for your home.

Sleek, gentle, almost hypnotising, the sea figures by Meissen artist Max Hagstotz present themselves, fully exhausting the possibilities of porcelain design with "Jellyfish", "Firefish" and "Whale Shark". Curved forms, filigree openings and structural details interact with each other in an exciting way and lead the viewer's gaze ever further to fathom the figure in its perfect splendour. In this tradition of Meissen form design, Hagstotz takes up the legacy of the Meissen master modeller Johann Joachim Kaendler. His baroque large-scale sculptures of maritime birds such as "Pelican", "Heron" and "Swan" established the international reputation of the newly founded manufactory more than 300 years ago and can still be reproduced in detail and admired today as part of the Meissen Exclusive Collection thanks to archives that are unique worldwide. The radiant white of Meissen porcelain sets stylish accents against the dark blue and aqua tones of maritime-inspired interiors and leaves a lasting impression that is second to none.
