White Easter
#meissenspring
  • It's that time of year again: the annual Easter celebrations are just around the corner. And with it all the beloved traditions and customs in the family circle. At MEISSEN, we also celebrate the traditions surrounding the spring festival with passion - preferably in brilliant white, but just as much with a variety of colorful patterns that reflect the colorful splendor of nature finally blossoming again.

At its core, Easter is the highest holiday of the Christian church year, which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and thus the confirmation of the faith of Christian followers since time immemorial. But it is also a time full of symbolism for all non-believers and atheists, reminding us of new beginnings and hope. This is because many Easter customs go back to pre-Christian spring festivals that celebrated the end of winter and the beginning of spring. When the Christian faith and the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus were to be spread, this was combined with these well-known rituals and customs in order to make it easier to establish them among the population. The word "Easter" probably comes from "Ostara" or "Eostre", the Germanic goddess of spring and dawn, who was worshipped at the beginning of the blossoming season. And so Easter has become fully established in the Christian world and is still celebrated extensively today on the Sunday after the first full moon in spring.
"From the ice they are freed, the stream and brook - by the Spring's enlivening, lovely look“
Johann Wolfgang Goethe
  • The real joy begins in the run-up to the festivities. It's a time for crafting, decorating and creating, when we free our own four walls from the dreariness of the cold season and prepare them for both Easter and spring, letting them shine in bright colors and white accents made of the finest porcelain. Especially when the youngest members of the family are involved, crafting and designing are a particularly great joy - from creating Easter baskets to painting the colorful Easter eggs. But it's not just the children who enjoy making colorful decorations for the festive season. A particularly popular custom is putting together an Easter bouquet with twigs that we cut on Maundy Thursday and festive decorations, such as our porcelain Easter eggs - whether in fine cookie with a fantastic relief motif or with wonderful decorations.

The festival itself is characterized by numerous activities: Family gatherings, Easter breakfast or Easter brunch on the festive table, a long Easter walk in the glow of the sunny spring weather and hiding and searching for small Easter gifts. However you celebrate Easter, whether with religious significance or as a happy family celebration, it is a time of joy, connection and hope. May this Easter be filled with moments of happiness, fond memories and sparkling eyes for you and your loved ones. At MEISSEN, we are proud to be a part of your celebrations and wish you a happy and blessed Easter!
